Isotope Technologies Dresden (ITD) represents the engineering business of Eckert & Ziegler Medical and provides customized hot cell solutions and in-cell equipment to international partners in healthcare, industry as well as research & development institutions. Our main focus is the safety of operators and optimization of handling processes for radioactive material.
More than three decades of experience in the field, 500 realized projects and a team of knowledgeable experts enable us to provide you with the solution you need and optimize existing approaches by paying attention to details.
We are committed to deliver the best possible solution for your process. Our project managers will support you during every phase of the collaboration, coordinating measures and ensuring that even the most complex large-scale facilities and hot cells are perfectly customized to your requirements.
Whether you are working with alpha, beta or gamma emitters, we offer various solutions for the handling of almost every radionuclide, from simple shielding to complex manufacturing or disposal processes. All solutions are customizable to your specific requirements.
The optimization of processes is at the core of our business. Understanding customer requirements, offering technical and conceptual solutions to improve these and to facilitate handling while fulfilling the highest safety standards is our mission.
We plan, coordinate, construct and install shielding solutions for medical and non-medical applications. Implemented concepts include radiopharmaceutical production, labeling and dispensing cells, R&D boxes, radionuclide production lines, material testing concepts, production of industrial sources as well as reprocessing and disposal. All projects are customized to predefined specifications.
Our team covers different areas of expertise to support and implement the design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, testing and training on your new hot cell and in-cell equipment. A dedicated project manager will guide you through the complete process, is your contact even after its completion and in case you require additional features in the future.
ITD got awarded with the supply of customized hot cells and shielded transfer systems for the Finnish institution in 2017. The project included engineering, design and manufacture of a huge complex consisting of 11 hot cells with up to 250 mm lead shielding and customized lead glass windows for multi-property testing of radioactive materials.
In 2016 we installed highly customized hot cells and transfer systems for processing liquid and gaseous radioactive substances at the HZDR. The project included hot cells for performing the synthesis of PET-radiopharmaceuticals under GMP conditions, shielded dispensing units, fume hoods and consultation regarding the design of processes.
Since the acquisition of ITD in 2017, various internal projects have been realized for different entities within the Eckert & Ziegler group. Implemented solutions included ranged from alpha boxes to Yttrium-90 and Lutetium-177 production facilities as well as other projects to support international project within our group.
The origins of Eckert & Ziegler Isotope Technologies Dresden (ITD) date back to 1964, to a technical department in the isotope production of the Nuclear Research Center Rossendorf, intended for the internal projects as well as sale of hot cells to customers in the eastern block. In 1991 Wälischmiller Dresden was founded as a spin-off from the institution. The company name was changed to Isotope Technologies Dresden in 2008. They have been active in the radiopharmaceutical field equipping global manufacturers with radiation protection and isotope production equipment since then. In 2017 the company was acquired by Eckert & Ziegler Strahlen & Medizintechnik AG.
